Acceptance

acceptance feelings self-care self-compassion

When dealing with chronic medical conditions or symptoms, it can be hard to accept the diagnosis and the uncertainty of the future. But resisting your current situation, only creates more fear, frustration, anger, anxiety and/or stress. Your mind can get stuck in negative thinking which can lead to hopelessness, depression and catastrophic thinking. First just accept your feelings even if they are negative. It’s ok to stop and process these negative feelings as you likely had expected a different outcome of your current situation or life. Extend some self-compassion for how hard you, your mind and body are working. By letting go and accepting what is, you can then focus your energy on how you can help the healing process. What can you control? How can I help my mind and body through this journey? What can I do today that can help me feel better?
